Wienke's 1956 F100

Wienke's '56 F100

The Challenge

Update a work-horse classic with modern running gear and performance while staying true to its farm-tough roots and family heritage. And, like the original truck, the mods had to be simple and straightforward with an eye towards function.

What We Did

To make it ride and handle well, we used a TCI suspension which not only gave the old workhorse new bones but also a completely independent front suspension and proprietary 4 link set up on the back. Rolling stock consists of 20" E85 Budnik wheels that were powder coated and polished wearing Continental tires. We replaced the old "Y" block with a bored and stroked 390 FE Ford big block and mated it to a modern Ford AOD transmission. Inside, we kept it just as simple and functional, updating the instrument panel with gauges from classic instruments, adding an Idit steering column and Snowden bench seat. As for the body, we massaged 60 plus years worth of work but kept the body lines intact, then had Relic restorations spray it in PPG Envirobase Blue Jeans Blue metallic.

What We Achieved

Like we always say, form follows function, so we worked closely with this F100s owner, Kerry Wienke, to make sure this old F100 checked every box on his wish list. We created a thoroughly updated classic that's now as home on the boulevard as it once was in the field; yes, Kerry can drive this truck anywhere but he'll never forget where it came from.
