John Spanos' 1967 Chevelle

John Spanos' 1967 Chevelle

The Challenge

John came to us looking to complete a project he had sitting in his garage: a 91 Firebird with an LS7 and 6 speed transmission. But as we talked, he realized that he really wanted to base his build on something more vintage, so the search was on for a 69 Firebird. But when this 67 Chevelle showed up, John knew it was what he was looking for. Better yet, we saved this one from the crusher, which is where it was headed when we spotted it.

What We Did

This Chevelle had considerable damage and rust, so before we could begin any real fitment work, we first had to tear it apart to almost nothing; there was little more left than the shell's skeleton and some inner body panels. Then the real fun started. To give it a more fluid and flowing look, we got to work fitting and fabricating new body panels, integrating them with hand-formed bumpers, brackets and inner-bracing, extending the rockers and quarter panels down below their original set points and adding our signature CNC machined Billet Aero Mirrors for a slick profile. It's set it on a new Roadster Shop Chassis and rolls on built-to-spec, 19" custom Forgeline CF3C wheels wearing Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires with 14" Baer brakes hiding inside. Under hood is a Mast Motorsports Supercharged LS7 making more than 800 bhp and it connects to a Tremec TKO 6speed. Moving inside, we built the center console, door panels and other interior pieces while Cato's Custom Upholstery built the custom, black leather-covered seats. VinatgeAir keeps a comfy temp.

What We Acheived

First, we completed a decades long dream of John's and he's now out enjoying the car he always wanted. Second,  his Chevelle won the Goodguys  Griot's Garage Muscle Machine of the Year for Award 2023. What's next? That's up to John, his Chevelle is ready and willing for whatever he wants to do.
