Jordan Costello's 1971 Duster

Jordan Costello's 1971 Duster

The Challenge

Build a street performance monster. Getting there has been the real challenge. Duster's make great street machines and this was the intent when Jordon brought his '71 to us. Recently painted and looking good, the plan was to swap in a Hellcat drivetrain, fortify the chassis and go, go, go. But when we looked deeper into the car, what we saw was no, no, no. Yes, the paint looked good, but the sheet metal looked bad as did parts of the frame. No way was what we were brought going to handle the Hellcat. So a new version of the old plan was hatched. It was still going to be one bad-ass street machine, but now it was going to be built from the bottom up, inside and out with the looks and the structural integrity to match.

What We've Done So Far

Obviously, a Hellcat motor is going in as is a Bowler T-56 transmission. The body will now ride on a custom-built full frame which will feature HRE wheels, 18" in front, 19" in back and hiding 14" 6 piston Baer brakes inside. Moving inside, the interior will have seats from a C6 'Vette that have been stripped and recontoured to fit, along with a custom-built rear seat to match. It's all getting covered in dark blue leather which will contrast beautifully with the crisp, clean, ultra-white paint that the body will wear. Other body mods include the bumpers being pulled in and our very own designed and machined outside mirrors and door handles from IntekOtto.
