Steve Leon's 1937 Chevy Coupe

Steve Leon's 1937 Chevy Coupe

The Challenge

Classic hot rods are always fun and challenging to build, and Steve's pegs the needle on both. Designed to pay homage to a "strict" classic hot rod-coupe style, vintage design cues and timeless elements are everywhere. From the vintage looking wire wheels to the art deco theme throughout, it's the details that bring this one together and respect the heritage of the era. It's those same details that set it apart as a thoroughly modern interpretation of the classic, post war hot rod.

What We Did

Hammered. Welded. Smoothed. Tucked. Machined. A lot. This '37 features extensive machining due to the high amount of art deco-themed details throughout the car. From it's repurposed heater and delicate interior trim pieces to its elegant hood ornament, waterfall grill and beautiful accent trim, there is an incredible amount of custom fabrication even for the pieces that don't look customized...which is kind of the point of this build. Backing up its classically gorgeous lines is an equally classic powertrain, a strong, though not silent, LS engine and trans combo built to move this pre-war, custom classic with the authority and confidence its looks exude.

What We Accomplished

Subtle and substantial. That's how we describe and characterize Steve's '37. It's beauty, beyond its originally designed lines, is in its details. Enough details to land it a spot as a Street Machine Of The Year finalist.
